Jeffrey Wasserstrom is chancellor’s professor of history at UC Irvine. He is the author of Vigil: The Struggle for Hong Kong, published this month by Brixton Ink, and of The Milk Tea Alliance: Inside Asia’s Struggle Against Autocracy and Beijing, forthcoming in June from Columbia Global Reports. He is now working on a book tentatively titled Orwell and Asia: A Continent’s Connections to an Author’s Life, Legacy, and Literary Creations.
